** ABOUT THE BAND** :
GENO DELAFOSE & FRENCH ROCKIN' BOOGIE will be riding into Manhattan on Sunday, February 19th, for a spicy, Louisiana style, red hot evening of infectious music and dance. Zydeco music can be referred to as a mixture of Rhythm & Blues, Caribbean and Cajun music, and not many years back could only be heard in the dance halls and county bars in Southwestern Louisiana. Son of the legendary zydeco great "John Delafose", Geno plays with an exuberance that can't help but catch your ear. Starting out at age 7 in his father's band, 'John Delafose & the Eunice Playboys", the 30 year old Geno has beenplaying and touring ever since. A versitile musician and song writer, Geno started outplaying the rubboard, then the drums, and now leads the band, playing both the diatonic and piano accordions. Recently highlighted in TIME magazine, Geno's talents have been noticed throughout the U.S. and around the world. Delafose is a talented songwriter with roots solid in tradition. Many of his songs can be traced to Cajun and Creole traditions which go back generations. Yet his music is decidedly modern and energetic. His CD "That's What I'm Talking About" shows you why everyone is talking about 'Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie'. The popular LETS ZYDECO shows are set up for listening or dancing. A complimentary dance workshop in the basic zydeco styles is provided prior to the music, to help newcomers learn the basic zydeco dance steps. You do not need to come with a partner to participate.

THIS IS THE 13th YEAR ANNIVERSARY of LETS ZYDECO (and CAJUN CONNECTION) music & dance events. Thank you all for your continued support, in keeping these music events alive in New York.
